2022 IFP Specialty Plans Broker Bonus Program

Boost your earnings with our 2022 new member IFP Specialty Plan broker bonus program for 2022 effective dates. You can earn a $25 bonus for every new dental and/or vision and/or life plan you sell statewide with or without a medical plan, including adding coverage to your existing medical and specialty members.

*To earn the dental, vision and life bonus qualified brokers must achieve a minimum of 10 IFP Specialty plan members (vision, dental or life).
 


COVID-19 Testing – At-Home Test Kits

Blue Shield of California continues to adhere to state and federal requirements regarding coverage of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. Variation between state and federal requirements, and continually-evolving guidance, may confuse members and plan-sponsors alike when it comes to testing coverage. We've developed this testing grid which reflects some differences in testing coverage based on lines of business to help you and your clients make informed decisions.

We will keep you informed of clarifications and/or changes to COVID-19 testing coverage. We will continue to follow state and federal requirements. Your clients may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period

Clients can qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if they've had certain life events. During a SEP, your clients can add or drop a plan whenever a life event occurs.

Examples of life events include losing health coverage, moving locations, and certain Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster declarations - including wildfires.

Optum Care Medical Groups remain in Blue Shield networks

Blue Shield of California and Optum Care medical groups in Southern California have agreed to a multi-year provider network contract. We are pleased to share this update, and believe the agreements reached are equitable and sustainably affordable for our customers. Most importantly, the new contracts ensure uninterrupted coverage for our members and your clients.

Any members who were unable to select an Optum Care PCP during enrollment while these providers were unavailable in Find a Doctor (FAD), can now update their PCP by calling the Customer Care number on their Blue Shield member ID card, or online using Find a Doctor.

We appreciate your patience while we worked to secure the best possible outcome for our members. Our goal is always to provide access to quality health care that is sustainably affordable.
 


We've improved the life insurance application process

We have streamlined the application and submission process to help you and your clients round out their coverage with life insurance and accidental & disability coverage (AD&D) up to $100,000. Leaving a financial legacy or covering final expenses is now easier than ever.

The digital DocuSign application lets you or your client complete and submit the application with just a few clicks – online from start to finish. No payment is required at the time of application. Once approved, members will be billed for their premium. The application and age-banded rates can be accessed on our life insurance home page.
